JOHN ADAMS

John Adams, the father of John Quincy Adams, had a high IQ of about 155. He was a statesman, diplomat, attorney, writer, and the second president of the United States. Before his presidency, he was one of the American Revolution’s leaders who helped achieve independence from Great Britain. He also became the first vice president of the US. Adams was considered a dedicated diarist who regularly corresponded with important figures in early US history, including his adviser and wife Abigail Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

Adams was the principal author of the 1780’s Massachusetts Constitution, which influenced the US constitution, as did his essay entitled Thoughts on Government. As you probably know, he and his wife generated a family of diplomats, politicians, and historians now called the Adams political family, which includes the sixth US president, their son John Quincy Adams.
